I did my friend visits and got 3 keys and 3 chests. I placed them in a room that wasn't leveled and got quite a few points. I can't remember now but it was more than 1 or 2.
Leveling is not as "easy" as it once was. Jess said they worked too long and hard to give us new levels and they don't want people making it to 500 next week..........lol

You get 232 xp from leveling up a room from 0 to 10 . and that is a lot . To level up a room to level ten you need to pay 15 k of instore items . But you could also level it up with chests and keys . I put 40 grey chests in a room and it leveled up to 8 . You can also buy 1 k mystery boxes in the gifts and flowers and if you buy those and open them. You get items that sell for 4 k in auction house . this will be a longer post than i planed because i wasnt planning on talking about these mystery boxes . but the mystery boxes give you items that are rare a lot . here are some of the items you get from them that sel in the auction house for 4 k -8 k and some more than 8 k . Tweed sofa sells for 5 k and i have sold them for 10 k before . ornate sofa , cello , black lava lamp , medieval statue, 70 s round bed . and garden gnomes. There are more items you get but basically it adds up to this . the 1 k mystery boxes are old and some ofthe common items you can get in them are now rare . so those items have a good resale value . witch means you spend 15 k in a room and you can sell what you get for profits . it really depends on the times . because when i do that i go through the auction house and make my items the cheapest . so some days you might make less . just remember only the 1 k mystery boxes work dont buy the 2500 coin box those ones dont make profits . and also you can get 25 xp from winning at the speedway. It sometimes takes a minute but it gives you 25 xp out of thin air . I wasnt planning on this post being long . = D

The best way to level up is by leveling up your rooms to level 10 in your houses

I refuse to tell anyone how to do it. It takes the fun out of it. You would be surprised if you play it right how you get the level faster.
There are a whole lot more ways to level then when zynga had it.
It is better to level in a room that is not leveled yet. If you make an event in a room non leveled up room and do it then. then add the buddies you take a selfie and it is also is nice.

Any item in furniture inventory that has the red 'new' banner will contribute towards levelling up the room its placed in.
Also, before placing items in a room buy, go to the furniture store on map and buy the items from there as you will gain XP too!
And you will also gain XP for placing these items in the room!
