I have been blocked from a players rooms. I do not know this player, nor have I ever been to one of their rooms before. I found out I was blocked when I tried to go to a sale in their room. How does this happen? Is there anything I can do to fix it?

I am sorry this has happened to you. Its feels really bad when it happens. Many block as entire groups in this game. Terrible, just terrible. Gang blocking is harrassment and bullying. In your case, it could be that they tried to check your outfit. The block and check outfit is right by one another and if a person is laggy things happen. if you know someone who knows them you could ask that person to ask why you were blocked or if it is accident.
I find if I ask many times the person wont unblock.. there are so many untrusting folks in this game, sick folks too.
personally i get paranoid by that block thing.
ok here is a story. This particular person blocked me. i have no clue why other than she does not respect others much and likes to be the onlyone heard. Her impulses are to block.. her life is prob this way too. So many closed doors she cant find sunshine. Oh well life goes on. ...Recently there was a block glitch abnand all the blocks came off. this same person came to my event to BLOCK ME again. see what I mean. its crazy right? like who the heck goes to a person event who they blocked to reblock and that person does not know ZIPLOCKET! oh my goshim so wonderful around here girly! It's not normal.

so I kick her out. Hey look. she blocked me harrasses me and dares to come to my event to reblock me. the odd thing is if they block you they can unblock you easily and come to your events in another name. I hate that. oh i hate that .. the person blocks they better not be allowed to come to me then. it needs to be a two way street. and so far in YO it is not. so..
how can you fix it? this is the one and only way I know how with the folks in here.
Kiss their behind and shut up. thats it. so unlessyou want to stoop lower than a dog. DO NOT ask to be unblocked. Be more than someones dog.
It used to be this game taught tolerance.. ages, gender, religion, politics, and cultures were a kind of tabboo.. it taught us to get along. well that block feature is not only patronizing but very damaging.

Sorry it happened. Find better people. People who think they are too good for you are usually not good enough for you at all.
