I use the straight line tool to do the lettering after going into backgrounds and clicking invisible
perhaps your not clicking save

Also, there are several pages in Facebook, offering the service of printing text or pictures for you. They charge some coins but its a good alternative to the hand-drawn ones. I do both. I draw some text myself but also paid people to print others for me. Good luck!!
