Dear Yos,

We are really happy to present to you all the result of the “Love with a Disability” collab. A collab that started in November and brought together 10 player designers and multiple members of our community who offered input on their disabilities and feedback on the designs in order to help create items for YoWorld that not only empower and bring awareness towards our disabilities but also allow us to be part of a celebration that conventional representations of it have been limited to non-disabled individuals.

This is exactly the reason why the Valentine’s Day theme was selected to represent us. It is the same reason why models with disabilities are appearing in fashion shows more and more often in the past few years and why companies like Mattel are including dolls with prosthetic legs, hearing aids and wheelchairs.

Individuals with disabilities deserve to be included and represented in any aspect of this life, including gameplay, as much as any other person. Disabilities shouldn’t be “othered”, excluded, and confined within the strictly defined notions of disability that’s strongly associated with only illness and the field of medicine.

We’re not just a condition but our condition is also a core part of who we are now and how we experience this life. Our aids are important to us. We are not scared of them. We want to be included and represented in an occasion that celebrates love without it being considered something “out of the ordinary”.

Therefore, the inclusion of the love lives of people with disabilities on Valentine’s Day is not just a matter of embracing inclusivity; it is a celebration of the unique and diverse facets of human existence.

It opens up new avenues for dialogue about accessibility and inclusivity in various aspects of life, encouraging at the same time both in-house and player designers to consider a broader spectrum of body types and abilities in their creations.
