The amount of things that could go wrong with this whole idea boggles the mind...

What I see happening is BVG's favorite players will get chosen regardless. The criteria they will look for is how much have you done for the company, either in designs, or real cash spending, & how willing you have been to defend the company in the past. The council may get to "play" deciding things, but at the end of the day, the company will decide what they do in the game because it's the company that has to answer to it's investors, not the council. What they will wind up becoming is the scapegoat when things go wrong. They will be a buffer, another layer between players & the game. I did vote but not for the reason one would think. I was curious about those who entered. I found it pretty easy to figure out who a few of them actually were just by what they wrote. I said this next part when it was first announced & I'll say it gain. This was a bad idea.

The winners are all new names for me. I'm looking forward to seeing how this plays out and wishing them the best.

I recognized one name on the list, they are a designer. I believe the female hair this month is theirs. And the 2 player/moderators. I do wish them all well. I hope I'm wrong about the scapegoat thing, I really am.

Same with me. I was really hoping to see some familiar names that post regularly here on the forums.

I actually think it's good to see new names, rules out any pre conceived notions.

I've been trying to stay positive, but I feel like most of us have just lost our voice. Oh, we can still come here to give opinions and communicate with other players, but who will really pay attention? I don't care for the idea of having a select few having the say in how the game goes or what ideas are presented. To top it off, the communication regarding this whole council was very poor. I never saw the candidates platforms, and by the time I saw the voting message it was too late...

Bolded: That is how I feel too, which indicates that it is impossible for a handful of people to "represent" all players. In any country, unless it is a totalitarian system, the citizens are represented by at least two factions/parties and ideally plus an opposing faction or party. Even so, even in such democracy, there will always be the voice of dissidents, critics, and anarchists who are not 100% represented by any of the factions or parties. It is the truth that most of them are the country's best intellectuals coming from various academic institutions, at home and abroad. These people are usually be black-listed and be regarded as "danger" by the governing bodies be given a persona-non-grata status, or be silenced in unobvious ways, like be given rewards, awards, prizes or high statuses. Some will consciously or unconsciously succumb to those tempting tactics and be silenced. They became "good" boys and "good" girls. So, who represent them?

Frankly speaking, if I do need to make my voice about something be heard, I will just say it in a comment in the Forum. I can say it much more accurately as to what I think or feel, in greater details too if I want to. I don't need anyone to be my voice because of that accuracy factor, and because this is an open Forum which the Vikings in charge are supposed to read and to respond whenever necessary. We are not a mute and inaudible mass who are completely unconnected to the Vikings in any means, that we need "representatives" to be heard.

It is the Vikings' task to listen to us by reading our posts and by asking us questions about what we want and what ideas we suggest. We are given Surveys, right, but do they give us what we ask for in a delivery mode that is readily accessible to us all? Do they listen to us, if at all? If they don't, then what is the use of having representatives, a body that is much less personal and direct than the voice of individuals? There is a layer of abstraction and a degree of distance when an idea or opinion was conveyed /relayed by a third party. The original emotions would be non-existent. The represented experience would lack the personal touch, where the power actually lies.

Just lend us an ear. It is as simple as that. Not enough Vikings to handle the Forum posts? Then why adding Discord, meaning more posts to read and reply? That is more works, not only for the Vikings but for players too. They could have simply hire more Vikings, instead of assigning players to work for free. Works to manage players, designs, have relatively been burdened to players. What will be next? Items have increased in prices, with better items released in YoCash Deals. Yet, BVG is too "poor" to add a few more Staff?

Also, to cover ALL players as claimed, non-English languages are very crucial, since not every player can speak English fluently. Any representative would ideally be those who speak at least two languages, namely English and other language spoken by non-English-speaking players. YoWorld is not played only in the US or Canada. From what I read in the past, a large number of players are located in Turkey, Greece, Egypt, The Philippines, etc. Any of the selected representative speak Turkish, Greek, Arabic, or Tagalog? Or Spanish, French, German, or Korean? Even if the opinions of those non-English-speakers may somewhat be loss in translation, at least these people are also represented. This to be fair to all. This is to represent all. Otherwise, it is "taxation without representation," lol. The word "all" should mean truly "all." One single player not represented, it is not "all."

If looking for and then following the opinion of the majority is one of the targets, most already knew, I believe, that the majority is not always right or ideal, or good and beneficial. Considering human qualities, the majority makes more mistakes and follies than those not in the majority.

Anyway, once again good luck to those selected, and also good luck to those "represented".

Sorry for the long post, and thank you for reading.

Can anyone be as accurate as me in voicing / representing my personal opinions above?

Yeah that how feeling that many of us will loose our voice in this game but we need to wait and see if this new council will be good to change this game around.

excellent post miss star. as of now i am withholding my judgment of the council to see what happens and hoping for thge best howevder my hope is not high one little bit as i'm a firm believer in history repeats itself, even in yo, as rod so pointed out in his post and as the old saying goes by george santayana, "those who don't know their history are doomed to repeat it". my own personal take on the quote is those who don't remember their history are doomed to repeat it.

Thank you, Diana. And I agree with you that history repeats itself. Wise warning by Mr.Santayana. Humans, by nature, are irrational beings, therefore sadly, even if one remembers their history, they will still repeat their mistakes.
