With the game safely in the hands of Big Viking Games, the new issue at hand is making the game more popular. While it's nice to see old faces around, the game needs new players. If you were in charge of marketing at Big Viking Games, what would you do to try to make the game more popular?

I'd personally focus on other platforms, such as Twitter and Instagram, and try to recruit new players from those sites and push them to use their Facebook accounts to play YoWorld. If BVG has a large marketing budget, they could also air commercials - imagine if you saw one that said ''Are you a loner, come join YoWorld today. The only place where insane people can feel normal.'' Yeah, that's a bad idea but you get the idea.

What'd you suggest that BVG do?

The reason people left to begin with is because Zynga stopped caring and everyone felt it. BVG clearly does care and they are trying very hard to nurture Yo back to good health...and I think people feel that too.

So the existing players are happier, and maybe they tell some new friends about YoWorld, and maybe those friends come and play, and maybe they tell some friends. Really, I think all it boils down to is some good word-of-mouth and the people will come. And maybe even some old players will come back.

Having said that, a little advertising never hurts...something like the 7-11 promotion again would be sort of cool.

they could ask permission from some of the room designers so they could be used in advertising
there are some brilliant rooms out there show off what can be done when playing

haha I like the idea of a commercia,l(not going to happen though) they could make one of all the protest that happened when Zinga had it.Then show the Vikings coming ashore to rescue us Yo's and makeing a new world.

Oh and merchandise too. They should start selling YoWorld and BVG Tshirts. I'd buy one for sure. And it's the smartest advertising of all....because people basically pay to advertise rather than being paid to advertise.

Totally agree with you, I'm sure the game will get more popular because of word of mouth but as you said, a little advertising never hurts.

Edit: I really hate not being able to do multiple quotes without manually doing it but I also think your idea about selling merchandise is a good idea. I personally get curious when I see logos of games/companies that I've never heard of on people. I'm sure others do as well and will look up what they mean and perhaps they will get addicted once they start playing the game!
