I think the whole world remembers where they were that morning. I sent the kids off the school because I was 2nd shift that day. I woke late, didn't turn on the TV or anything just got dressed and rushed off to work. Walked in to the hospital pharmacy where I worked and there was a radio on broadcasting the news, which was very out of the ordinary. I asked what was going on and one of my co-workers said "we're at war!" More went on as the day progressed but that's how I found out.

I have many patriotic things and wears I can giveway, this isn't a contest, just tell where you were and let me know if you'd rather have furniture or wearables.

  to everyone on the anniversary of that dark day.

My husband and I were both off work. I had a doctor’s appointment scheduled later. I decided to pick up breakfast and had the radio on in the car. They were talking about a plane that had hit the tower and there were reports of a second plane that had also hit. In my head I was thinking a small plane. Then I thought maybe smoke had caused visibility issues so a second plane hit. I just could not wrap my head around a terrorist attack. When I got home I told my husband what I had heard and we turned on the tv. I can’t even describe the emotions that day. What I remember most is in the days and weeks after was how nice people were to each other. Also the patriotism. You could not buy a flag anywhere.

I was in my freshman year of college. I was driving to my first class and heard on the radio that a plane had flown into one of the towers. They thought it was an accident. When I got to school everyone was in the halls as they had the news on every TV. We all stood around and watched what they were saying. My professor said we all needed to get to class. It was a History class. She made us stop watching and have a lesson on early American history. When we got out of class the second tower had been hit and they were closing the college in fear that someone was targeting places with a lot of people.

I've always wondered, as a history professor, if she regretted making her students miss the history that was unfolding before them to go sit in a classroom and learn about past history.

A few hours after I got home one of the towers had fallen. It was a very sad and hard day. We kept the TV on all day and night to keep up with what was happening. I didn't know anyone in the towers, in the planes, or at the Pentagon, but my heart broke for everyone who was personally affected. I still mourn with them each year.

I remember how united these attacks made our country. I remember driving down the road and seeing people with buckets at every light in the city collecting funds for the families. Almost every car gave. Some gave at every single light. I remember watching the news every night of thousands of people working the rubble to find survivors. I remember people coming from different states to help. While we mourned we also rallied and became a united front that fought back! It was a very hard time, but it was also a very comforting thing to see everyone love on each other. I pray we do not need another attack or disaster to bring this broken country back together.

Not entering, as I was only a small child when it happened. Just here to send my condolences to all those affected, those who lost loved ones, and the countless of people who are still suffering :rose:

I was 18 at the time and lived with my son and husband in an apartment. My son was born in may of that yr. My husband was at work and I was home with Daniel. He was around 5 months at the time. I was doing housework and sat down to feed him his bottle and turned the tv on and was shocked! I will never forget that day. Love your fit!!

I wanted to add that 9/11 was a big part of why I had kids. My husband and I did not plan on having children. This tragedy really emphasized how fragile and unpredictable life is yet hearing stories from families who had lost loved one really got me thinking about the importance of family in our lives. Then two months later my grandfather passed away. On the way home from the viewing, I told my husband I wanted to have kids. Turns out he had noticed the shift in my thinking as well. He said he knew and was okay with it. Our first son was born in 2002 and it was such an amazing experience for both of us he was ready to have another right away  (Took me a little longer to get there though :haha: )

I was a child when it happened, so my memories are hazy. It was early afternoon here in England, and our teacher told us what had happened after lunch. I remember seeing the disturbing footage on TV after school. Haunting to this day.

I was asleep in my room when my husband called me on the phone. "Turn on the tv" he said. I went into the front room and turned it on and saw the planes crashing into the first then the second tower. I cried in disbelief that this was actually happening. I later found out my brother's in laws, who lived in Manhatten had seen it from afar and they said it looked like a war zone.

Two years later I actually went to New York to attend my brother's wedding and we went and looked at the ruins. There was a large fence encircling the entire area and people had left notes, novelties and flowers all around it. We added ours. We went to Battery Park where they had a memorial set up which included The Sphere that survived and an eternal flame in memorial of those who had lost their lives. I wept and prayed. Quite moving and I still am at a loss on how this could have happened. I will never forget. May healing come to all who lost loved ones and continue to feel the effects of that day.

The plaque at The Sphere reads: "For three decades, this sculpture stood in the plaza of the World Trade Center. Entitled "The Sphere", it was conceived by artist Fritz Koenig as a symbol of world peace. It was damaged during the tragic events of September 11, 2001, but endures as an icon of hope and the indestructible spirit of this country. The Sphere was place in Battery Park on March 11, 2002, as a temporary memorial to all who lost their lives in the terrorist attacks at the World Trade Center. The eternal flame at The Sphere was ignited on September 11, 2002, in honor of all those who were lost. Their spirit and sacrifice will never be forgotten.

The kids went to school, I turned on the TV, and the first plane had just hit. Spent the rest of the morning watching in horror. Went to work that afternoon, the price gouging had already started. Gas prices were already over $5 a gallon. I will never forget 9/11

I was at home working and messaging with my then best friend. I was typing away about something when he wrote that his wife had just heard on the radio... It was a few seconds before I stopped typing and read his comment, but I was able to turn on the TV in time to see the second plane hit live. I was glued to the TV for hours wondering how many attacks there would be and if I was in danger. (At the time, I lived within walking distance of a massive naval air base.)

Thank you all for your replies. I've sent personal messages along with various American flags to everyone. If there's anyone I missed please please let me know.

Reading these and knowing that we were all in it together, (even those in other countries), really just lets me (and everyone) know that no matter how big the world is, we're all closer when we need to be.
