Where do these snow balls come from?/ I can't find them.

Do you have throw animations enabled in your account settings?
It needs to be set on, refresh and try to throw a snowball.

I wish we had the old balloon back where it doesn't cause those laggy actions when throwing.

In case that wasnt' enough - the little white character with the red dot by the "message" bar.
Click on that and there are currently three options - Red (counts toward event), Green (counts toward event) and white (does NOT count toward event).
