I have not played much since 2017, but used to be a daily player.
My favorite things to do in the game was to host pageants and ttt-events, but now I cannot seem to find any of these types of events in the event list.

What kind of events are popular for making new friends, just have fun and hanging out 2020?

Hi there's a lot of games in game held by players and you can win coins or items
There's also pagents every often and sometimes maxing

Firstly, welcome to the forums! Keep your eye on the 'games' category in events, there are VERY often pageants / maxing events / G4G's, etc.! Still great turnouts and lots of fun, hope to see you at a pageant soon as that's all I ever seem to be doing on the game lately!
