How many items can you put in the Auction House? I can put 10 (5 yc, and 5 coin) but my friend can only put 5. Does it have to do with being a VIP ?

Everyone should be able to put 10 items (5 yc and 5 coin items). This does not have anything to do with VIP.
I am not aware if some (new?) players are restricted in the number of items they can post in the AH. A Viking should be able to answer that question for your friend. You can ask your friend to raise a ticket and get it clarified.
