What happened to People Hosting Auctions the right way like the old days, When the name and worth of an item didnt matter, when you bid on the item because you liked the item not because of how much you can sell it for, where res was low and reasonable. Now a days I join auctions and a seller is like Cocoaville Lionel Eyes Blues Worth 350-400K, res 500K, I mean in real life, People bid on an item because they like it, or it looked cool, not because of how much you can sell it later.

True but, people can charge what they want for their items. Yet others may be willing to sell for the guide price making it harder for the overpriced sellers or auctioneers to make money.

Well in real life people will bid on an item based on how much they can sell it for later too. Other than that I agree with everything you said. When I first started going to auctions, they were mostly closed and your occasional poofer. Then open auctions became popular and still you had your occasional poofer. Even then I always said I would much rather have a high reserve, then a low one and a poofer. I say let them set their reserve and get no bids if its too high, if they are smart they will adjust it.

Every since I've returned to Yo after an extended break, everything seems to have changed with them. Although here are some good ones that still occur, quite few of them are a wreck. It's very clear that people do not understand the purpose of selling at an auction as oppose to just making your own event and selling for the price you want. The poofing because of setting a very low reserver or no reserve is popular.

I remember when having VIP at an auction just simply meant you got the best seating in the room. Now it means you get the best seating, you can kick someone out, you can skip the line, and/or you can no sale.

Auctions in general here are messed up.
If you don't have someone putting a Res so high no one will bid on it you have those who put no res or less then they want, who then poof when they don't get the money they wanted.

It seems that these days, people use auctions as a way of getting top dollar (or more) for their item. It's become just another way of making a HUGE profit. I wouldn't call these "auctions", auctions at all. I mean, i'm all for making coins. but these auctions are really just top dollar sales, where the illusion is that you are bidding and winning an item. when in fact, it's the owner having alll the fun haha

I get that these "auctions" can still be a reallyyyy good time. but sometimes i crave an Auction where it's like you said, Reserves were low and you can get some really great deals...

I really don't get when people are about to auction off an item and say," No Res, but please bid fairly ".... I. Don't. Get. It :| LOL Or when they say "No res.." and then cry baby face all over the place when they don't get top dollar! TF?! haha Smh
I mean, why not just cut to the chase and say "Ok, so i'll sell this item but for NO less than so and so price. For example: If an item is being auctioned and its worth 600k. Most likely the price will go way beyond that or JUST below that. If the bid only makes it's way to like, 400k... Whoa whoa WHOA! well that's just grounds for poofing right there Lol :P

When i have auctions, I know what i'm getting into, and sometimes I lose coins and sometimes I do pretty well. But i never ask for "fair bids" and I try to set decent reserves. Reserve met, is Sold, no Ifs Ands or Buts. I also don't bring up worth, because we all know(or some at least) that worth is completely irrelevant during an auction!
This is also the reason that i don't auction regularly though, because i understand that it is a risk.

Now, I'm not saying that i'm any kind of auction Goddess or anything close Lol I'm just saying there is a distinct difference between what was considered an auction and what we have around today.

That is all. hahah :D

I never auction off my things but I will say that I respect the people who do and SET A RES. Even if it happens to be a high one. At least they had enough decency to not poof.

I agree! I rather them set a high res than to completely waste time having people to bid and then they poof.

some now a days I go to auctions just to chat, I call auctions the new altons lol, but it gets annoying when people say no res, then when they dont see the price they want to sell it for, then they poof, it not only wastes my time but other peoples time as well
