From what I can gather that is not true. Apparently it has been found that the majority of players are women over the age of 30. They want people who can spend on YoCash, not children with limited income. ;)

In fact I know a large number of ladies playing who range from late 30's to mid 70's. :)

This is true.
I think their demographic study showed most were female over 30.

Then please forgive me for using false information, I was going off my experience in-game.
I know my little cousins and their friends from elementary-middle school play whereas the highschool kids I've met say they don't like it.

I shouldn't have posted that unless I knew statistics, my fault.

Not a problem. It does, indeed, seem that there are loads of youngsters running around the game.

But if they were the majority then this game would be long dead.

I think that the majority of the older players like myself tend to either decorate or just get together in friends' apartments and homes. They tend not to venture out as much as the youngsters. :)

I can tell you all are mature and not children, because the children I've encountered in the game can't seem to have a discussion without getting very angry and throwing in a lot of "yadda's."

I respect & thank you all for teaching me some things about the game and I apologize if in any post from me came across as demeaning or in a negative way. :)

We all have bills and food ..
Some of us have kids and grand kids
and college tuition...

Fact of the matter is:
If you have internet access to play online games
then there's money for $5 or $10 a month in YoCash
to help support the game.

If you can't afford that.. then you probably shouldn't
be expending cash on the internet and put it into
"food and bills". ...

just sayin.....

With that being said, it really is difficult being
a new player in 2014. I'm glad I started when the
game was new and worked my way up. I remember
having to save up for a long time to get a laptop for just
a few coins.

This game certainly isn't about instant gratification.
That's not necessarily true. A lot of times internet access is necessary. I am a college student and I have to have internet access to take online classes, check my schools website for grades, access to email, and even strictly on campus classes have online assignments I have to attend to (due on weekends). Lots of jobs require internet access too. The internet can be used for entertainment but also to get work done. Yes everyone has bills and food lol, but some people are on a budget. That doesn't mean internet cannot be a part of that budget. They can pay for internet and choose that it is a necessity or luxury they are willing to pay for, just as they can decide yocash is out of their budget or a luxury they cannot afford. I really hate the shaming on buying/not buying yocash. I often feel like I am not as valued as other players, because I do not consistently buy yocash. People say oh well just buy your own... well it isn't always that simple. I don't feel like it is anyone's place to pass judgment on other people's buying decisions without walking in their shoes first. Sure it is just 5-10 dollars but if I spent 5-10 dollars on every special food item I want at the grocery store, or coffee, or new shirt, then I would be broke. I try to be as frugal as possible. In fact, I saved over $1000 so I could go to college this summer without financial aid. If I would have just bought my own yocash every month, or every other little thing I want, then that number would be majorly deflated lol. Every dollar adds up! A lot of people are in debt too...
Lady Lovely Right on!! :!: Yeah...no one should be bullied/shamed ....w/ anything in this game....but most certainly whether or not they can afford to pay to play! Unfortunately...there will always be the 1% that think it is their right to assume what is right for themselves...should be right for someone else! When I started out.....I was poor for a very long time....took long amounts of time to buy anything.....It does take a very long time to get started in this game...then and probably more right now! I only bought cash for the 1st time ahhh maybe a couple of years ago.....when I had some extra....and have a few times here and there and will or wont again... when I choose....dont let peeps get to you.....you play your Yo...the way you want and never feel pressured into buying YC!!

I just want to clarify that this thread is not about complaining at all :), just about bringing up certain things new 2014 players face when starting Yoworld.

One of the first and most frustrated problems I've experienced being a new player,
is that everyone accuses me of being an alternate account.
Therefore kicking me from contest rooms in-game and always being ignored no matter what I say.

Another 2014 player problem is finding furniture made before 2014, no matter how many events I've posted in trading no one ever seems to have or be selling old furniture/decor making my theme choices extremely limited.
But this problem can be solved if I ever get lucky enough to have Yoangels gift me, but I don't expect anything for free.

A problem most 2014 players have is lack of coins, which I thankfully didn't have to deal with as much because I have 3 cousins who play and they helped me out when I started.
But if I wasn't helped out, doing jobs all the time would still hail hardly anything. With all the prices of things being multiple thousands It would take a new player a very long and tedious time to earn enough to buy things for their character and house.
(Unless they buy Yocash of course.)

Thank you for reading, and have a blessed day! :D

Hope you enjoy game, not worry so much about getting old items that are expensive. You are lucky to have 3 cousins helping you! Are all 4 of you here on forums?

Yes ma'am! :) They are pretty much the only reason I started. Before this I had never bothered with a Facebook game.

And please don't take anything I said as "I don't like this game." I was just bringing up some things I was facing as a new player, nothing else. :P Not taking anything away from Yoworld

I'm noticing more and more that families play together (or large groups of friends).
As my kids grew into adults more and more of their friends began playing.
My mother has 7 brothers and sisters so I have aunts and uncles that play.

When there's a large group of family together we can't help but drag out the laptops
and start trading stuff on YoWorld.

Internet access is not a luxury, it is an necessity, it is expected that students have it, and I mean young students in Primary Education, not to mention Secondary School and University.

Well I would not go as far to say "all of us have bills" because the target demographic of this game is mostly children and teens.
But I get your point and their parents do have bills and still manage to give them money for digital currency.

After reading what you said I should have rephrased myself, pardon me for that. I would rather 10 dollars go towards a child or a gift for a birthday or in my situation with my family involved in the Salvation Army, a few plates of food for people less fortunate than towards a facebook app.
That being said I don't have a problem with people wanting to support the game and in fact I say more power to you! All I'm saying is if I had more income after all the necessary things needed to live, I would indeed support the game more often. But for the time being things are pretty much paycheck to paycheck, and I know there are a lot of people out there that are in the same situation.
Summed up: Some people have more expendable income than others

Thank you for your reply by the way! I enjoy viewing people's thoughts even if they differ from my own:)

the target demographic of yo is not children and teens. first of all, children under 13 are breaking tos by playing. zygna once said the target demographic is women over 35, which makes complete sense to me. most teens usually don't have any income to buy yocash unless their parents allow.

Welcome to the game! I don't have a lot of extra income lying around but I do manage to find 5 or 10 bucks a month to put towards this game. I just skip a coffee or find another way to cut. I know not everyone can do this. I feel like the 5 I spend here gives me items that last for a very long time while an iced coffee is gone within an hour.
