I'll have to try the whole post 3 positive things a day for a few days. I've seen my FB friends doing it and thought I should too. There are just some days, it's hard to find even 3 things. lol

It was hard to find the three positives each day!.... I am a realist and I know things dont always have a rosy glow, but sometimes its nice to try and focus on the good happy things instead of going over and over the bad. I find people who look for the good, usually enjoy their lives way more than those who see all that is wrong. And often times they are facing the exact same challenges. ;)

I like your post and had a smile when I read it. I then realized I just might be a "Pollyanna Poster"! :o In all seriousness, for me it is not that hard. It really is the way I am at heart. Perspective is the way I tend to look at things and not in any "rosy glasses" kind of way. I have lost more then a few wonderful people in my life, I have seen the depravity, suffering and sadness in the world. Those are the things that are worth getting upset and angry over. Life is much too short for all of us to spend our time stressing and angry over the things that in the end really don't matter all that much.

I am not incapable of getting upset over the smaller things, however, for my own good I refuse to let myself get pulled in that hole. Focus focus on the things that you are grateful and happy about and push out the things that cause you strife! lol All joking aside, I commend you for your efforts. It's not always easy, yet I do believe is is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Much peace <3

I loved Pollyanna! The world would be so much better if more people thought as she did. If we look hard enough, we can find positives in just about any situation. If we all dwelled only on our troubles, and never see all the good around us, we would all be miserable.

My realism will be different than yours. At times it is guided by emotions. It might not align with your definition, but it does not make it an untruth. However, we gravitate toward those with similar outlooks; hence, your preference for those who have a similar 'realism'. All of a sudden, I feel as though I am talking in circles...

In conclusion, it's all good. :D

I actually dont even think its bad to be pollyanna to a degree, really. Its not like she was blinded that reality wasn't so great in front of her. Its more that (like you do) she actively choose to look at a situation in a manner that made reality tolerable in a bigger picture kind of way thing. :) Its almost a deliberately empowering thing to do, at times.

Now this makes me smile... we can rise above the negatives - and try to ignore what makes us angry or stressed. I'm so sorry that you have experienced loss and sadness, but as you say, trying to focus on the positives -and perhaps happier times does help.
I get upset too - but I am learning to try... Peace be upon you and yours..

Exactly! If someone chooses to think a "pollyanna type personality" is naive in any way, perhaps, they are the very people who have struggled the most in life or endured a little too much reality, and refuse to let life keep them down. It is a choice how we approach things. Since when did being positive become a negative?

Of course. It all is usually subjective. An experience of real consciousness is a rare thing. However, some people are by nature fact oriented and some are not. My former professions were always fact gathering and my spiritual quest is as well. So yes, I agree with you. I appreciate many types of people but tend to gravitate toward those who are quick thinkers, interested in WHY and have a sense of humor.

I would I agree with all the above! I didn't mean to infer that the OP was using the "Pollyanna" reference in a negative way at all. I sure have been told by others (not just on the forum) that my attitude is not realistic. Lol. I think sometimes that positivity can be seen by others as unrealistic or naive. (Blatantly been called that at times). I just wanted to put out there my way of dealing with the negative emotions that we all experience and why I am that way. <3

Edit to add: Everyone make a Pollyanna post right now! I dare you... 8-)
