I think, I have found the price guides to be only that... a guide... should you choose to follow... it seems some people are & many others are watching prices then coming in with what they think is right or fair... it is generally supply & demand that drives the prices, it is no different in YO WORLD. 8-)

BVG can't make a price guide. It's really a waste of resources for them to pay people to constantly update the guide as prices change so often. They could put these people to work on content to put out and constantly fix bugs that come up instead. After all it's just a guide, don't have to go by it really.

The guide isn't even a guide.

Some of the prices are so out of whack on well either of them, that you'll be taking a huge loss if you go by it or anywhere near it.

I can't really fault those in charge of it, whoever they even are now as I only know alby and think she does a good job on the articles, because there's 4904385904385092385423 different items and no way to track all of them.

In the past however there were shadier agents who manipulated the "guide" to their own gain. Taurus said that earlier and likewise, I thought it was common knowledge.

I use them as a guide basically. A good way to tell if older items were yc or coin originally. I had more faith in them after I came back from my break and didn't know what anything was worth. However, I soon learned that they are not accurate but they can be good for a ballpark estimate.

I looked up some of my old collectibles and was shocked at how low some of them were priced such as my gold t-rex from Super Saturday. They had it at 90k, which was the same price I got it for when I originally bought it three years ago.

I now a lot will be mad but I am going to defend priceguides and this is why. I do think that the people that work those sites work to keep the prices updated as much as they can. Their aim is to help those who have no clue about a price and not sale it at a blind price. If you don't need the priceguide, you know how much an item is worth or you just want to sale for whatever price, then nobody is forcing you to go look. I just get mad when I go look at yopriceville or yorehab for the price of an item and people start attacking me and telling me I am stupid because I am using the guide. Only I can decide if I am using the guide or not. I do not have the ball park price of each item memorized. Just my opinion.

No they don't. Wouldn't take them that long to update a guide if they just went through and started wit 08's and moved up, they didn't update barely anything for ages. They only focus on 08 costumes and items along with misc. items that they think are cute.

Let the events run prices like they used to before these guides came along. We did fine without them and we would do even better if they just poofed.

Strongly disagree. Of course, at times they are wrong as they cant work 24/7, there are also thousands of items but almost every time I use the guide, it is reliable. Give them a break. Again, if you don't want to use the guide or don't agree with guide don't use it. I use it because I choose to and because I like it, specially when I have no idea about a price.

I had a sale for fairytale furniture earlier, and I was following rehab. They were way underpriced. Thankfully some nice person told me!

Thank you for your kind words, Samberg. :)

I could, for the millionth time, attempt to explain the method I used to check prices when I worked for the price guide section, but what's the point? People have their own preconceptions about both guides, and nothing I can say or do will change anything.

All I will add, though, is that guides are just that - guides. No one forces anyone to use them. Yes, there have been 'problems' in the past, but a large number of the agents are older now. I am 52, and the desire to manipulate prices for own gain somehow does not actually do anything for me.

But, going back to whether people should treat guides as bibles... If I asked you all here to jump off a cliff, would you? I flipping well hope not!

I used to use yorehab a lot as a buyer going to sales, never been much for selling things myself.... I am sort of picky of what I purchase and buy for my own use. But I actually never considered bad intentions on the part of that site. Rather, how in the word could they possibly keep up with updating the vast amount of items that were being sold and resold when releases were happening at a furious rate? This was a fan site created I thought from people who loved the game and not for profit. I suppose any organization can have their thorns, but three or so years ago I was really grateful for them while playing.

Di, it's been a difficult time for all guides. I don't know how YP do their pricing and would never dare to presume, but YR relied on events, the trading section and FB pages. then, when events got stopped, it really threw things to the wind. People have asked if we ever use auction prices. We don't. It's too easy to manipulate prices through fake bids made by friends of the seller.

Many people thought that the game was closing so sold their stuff off. Then they realised that they had made a mistake and were desperate to buy the items back. this meant that the prices of some items went stupid.

I am hoping that withing a few weeks we will have new releases and that prices will start to settle down a bit.

I think BVG should release an official pricing guide for all the stuff that is currently not in stores.

They had good intentions but a guide is not even a guide anymore when prices are so indifferent. If things were off by 20K yeah fine okay...but when things are off by a large amount well then the guide just failed.

How in the world is this helping any semi new person? They see oh Yorehab #1 price guide....to advertise #1 guide is false because its an outdated guide and both sites should just shut down.

Example the girl up there saying she didnt know her fairytale stuff was worth more than "these" guides. She would've lost out on honest coins, how's that fair? Because she believed this guide to be accurate when all it is, is a piece of garbage.

Well better than to sale for a blind price.

I use the price guides when looking for items, or to get quick pictures of items.
I don't really use the prices there anymore since they are made by players.

The guides were never able to accurately put forth what was going on. Two days or so after a theme left store they had all these "guide prices" up for the items of that theme. Really that was just their guesstimate or fantasy. To know what is really going on takes time and attention to be involved oneself and see what is going on, next best thing is have friends that do and help you out there to know what is going on.

The only have the amount of power you give them. I never used a price guide and I don't care. I sell for what I feel it's worth and I buy the same way. I have all the power.
