No. They can DDoS (which is illegal to do and can result in jail time) you but they can't "hack" you. IP is usually public anyways but it's pretty easy to change your IP address if needed.

Your ip address is similar to your house address,in the sense that the mail (in this case yoworld information) needs to be sent to a specific house and person.
It's just a just a way of determining whether it was you or Doris down the street wanting that information.

Sometimes they post a fake IP to scare you.
(sometimes it's real)
Next time it happens make up one of your own:
140.12.1242.01
and tell them you have theirs too and you are going
to watch their wife sleep.

They'll probably poof.
