Happy Mother's Day to all you Mothers!! :rose: Thanks for the Contest BVG. I did find the sleepy parent a bit stereotypical. Though it is very true that you will defiantly be more tired when you are a parent (especially at first)... your life defiantly has been enriched for the better... MUCH better. So I decided to write a poem about it. haha
Poem entry:

Being a Mother is one of the best things that happened to me.
I love every moment I have with them and don't want to be free.
Yes, at time I am tired with sleepy eyes
but don't think for a moment that this child is not a prize

You may think I am a frumpy mess with no fashion joy
But I want to be comfy as I have fun and play tag with my boy.
It may seem sad that I don't get to spend my extra money on a set of pearls
But I have the absolute best gems with my darling girls
You are silly to think Dad's belly's are big with beer
It is just the midlife bump that all men fear.

As the years progress, these little children grow old
They became wonderful citizens that I helped mold
As long as I live I will never be alone
I can always talk to them if only on the phone.
My walls will be covered with the art of little ones
I will get to laugh at their silly little puns
My vase will be filled with dandelion flowers
and the days will fly by like only hours.

And before too long I will be on my death bed,
with one of these sweet blessings wiping my head.
With tears in their eyes they will say fare well.
but my memory will live on with the stories they tell.
And on my tomb stone the words "Loving Mother" written
because with these darling children I will always be smitten,

i love juju

mama,
although I have your eyes,
although I wear your smile,
I will never ever have be able to walk your amount of miles.
you've cherished each breath that I have taken,
you have watched each mistake I made,
through the groundings,
the landings and all of the loud nagging,
you will always been my mother.

every time I see you,
every time you smile,
I wonder who is the reason why,
if I knew all the ways to make your smile appear,
I would be your constant clown,
giggles over there, giggles over here,
i wont let you down.

Mom

When I was very little, she was my world.
I'd wake up in the morning and toddle out to the living room.
She'd be sitting in a rocking chair, reading a book.
When I crawled into her lap, she'd wrap her arms around me
And I'd be safe.

After I started school, my world expanded.
But she was always there when I came home,
With milk and cookies or apples, a snack .
Making yummy meals and snacks was part of her love
And I was loved.

When I was hurt in my body or in my spirit,
She was right there, with Bandaids and mercurochrome,
Painting my wounds red and soothing my sorrows.
She always seemed to know what to say.
And I was healed.

I grew older, thinking I was so cool,
In college and learning much that she never knew.
She started to seem smaller from my lofty height.
I thought I was smarter and wiser than she was.
And I was wrong.

Growing older still, I began to observe
That what she said was often annoyingly right.
My condescension disappeared and over time
We became friends as well as family
And I could talk to her.

Then one day she was gone and I had not finished our talks.
I lived so far away and she had been so alone.
I felt guilty for finding my place in this life without her.
But I knew she'd never blame me. She loved me.
And I cried.

Mom
~Franz Eutrassian~

I know a person whose love is unmatched
whose love is so warm it can keep you through winters.
I know a critter whose eggs are hatched
and keep it from anything and prevent blisters.
I know someone whose hold is warm
so we always go to this person from cold.
Though we do not thank her for wounding her arm
for loving and caring for us, even old
we always know that the person, of any critter
That we will always be on her side on times of bitter
I always know that person who gives me enough
in times so pleasant and rough
the person I always love, always adore
Mom, I will always love you to my heart's core.

Mom..
By: RavenBlades.

The person who gave me a life to live,
the person who had much love to give than any shine.
And me that was a baby who always had to cry and whine,
you never gave up on me and looked upon me with a smile.
When darkness fell upon my life and you saw it right away,
nobody else but you could guide the light my way in a short while.
Even when you my mother hold your own emotions trying to get by,
then I realized how terribly broken down my mother was but she always includes a smile.
When you're breaking down away from home I'd come running within a mile,
then you would sit on your comfortable sofa and realize everything was clean for a while.
I'll do everything for you to be truly happy and not broken inside,
So that I may have good memories with you whenever and wherever wide.

My mother is awesome just like every other mother, thank you!

I do not deserve you at times,

Like when I ran out of rhyme
Over something I shouldn't have done
Vindictive words and my -
Egoistic pries

You loved me
Out of nothing
Unconditionally gave me everything

My smiles aren't formed
Out of will alone
They were an echo of your
Heart's warmth; your
Ever beating, ever fighting
Ray of hope that has fought with me against the world

To my Mom,

Thank you.

Thank you for being there for me for all the practices, competitions, and field trips. You have been my biggest fan through every single stage of my life and I couldn’t ask for a better cheerleader. Thank you for knowing when I was wrong and spanking me when I was being a brat. I may not have liked it then, but looking back, I know I’m better off. Thank you for holding me while I cried and promising me that tomorrow would be a better day. You’ve been my rock through breakups, life decisions, and new chapters. You’ve carried me through when I was convinced I couldn’t go on. Thank you for (sneakily) becoming my very best friend, being my first (and daily) phone call, and being my biggest (and most caring) confidant. You answer your phone with the same enthusiasm every time, whether it’s my first or the fifth call of the day. I am eternally grateful. Most importantly, thank you for showing me right from wrong, for encouraging me in my walk of faith, and for teaching me the value of respect not only for others, but for myself as well.

The Gift of a Mother

A mother is a special gift, she gives the gift of life and love to her precious cradle. She is the light in a child's world. It is a beautiful feeling to feel the wrath of love from a mother. The love of a special bonding. If only all children could feel this love on this special day. After all, this love is beautiful, bold and angelic. Seeing children ran up to their mothers to give them hugs and kisses, teenagers giving them amazing gifts and words of praise, even adults still love their mothers just as deeply. They cry for their mother when she passes and that love is no longer with them but it is in their heart and mind forever. It is an eternal bond.

Yos shared poetry, and Yos shared prose
For moms of all kinds, our love only grows
Vikings sniffed with wet eyes as submissions we read
But to choose winners? We scratched our heads
Choosing ten was hard; your poems are great
But winners are here - sorry for the wait! :trophy:

I try to understand you
you like to go out
I like to stay home
You want me to do things
I do what I need

You go out of your way for me
You support me in all I do
I say "I don't need that much
It's enough with you"
But you say "It's ok
I love what I do"

You are in every part of my life
I try to be in every part of yours
Today my children said
I have done so much for them
In my time of suffering
They tried to help
I always was there for them
My efforts made them who they are today
and shouted "I love you MOM!"

We cried and hugged
I thought of you and them
if not for your efforts
I too would not be the mother I am
So I told them with a smile "It's ok
I love what I do"

I tell you today
I Love you so much
Thank you for all you do
Even though there are times I don't understand
I will do my best to be there for you

She taught me how to count, also how to spell.
She supplied fresh fruits & veggies from her garden...

She canned food for us to have in the winter season.
She made homemade clothes for us for a reason.
When we had little to nothing, she would find what we needed---
She had a heart of gold, never was conceited!

Mom has been gone from this world for over 30 years.
No longer around to comfort and ease my simple fears.
But inside of my heart is where she still remains...
Until we meet once more on Heaven's plains.

None of us can deny the fact that our mother is one of the most important parts of our lives and that's one fact which is Universal in nature. This is the reason that Mother's Day is celebrated in every corner of the World with so much enthusiasm. Different people have different way of celebrating mother's day based on the country, religion and caste they belong to. While, some people think that gifting flowers or any of your mother's favourite gifts will be enough to make her feel how much you care, on the other hand, some feel that something real, something which you can communicate through words will definitely be great. Some make use of Mother's Day poems to shudder every part of their mother's heart.

I agree, even some of the entries weren't original. I don't think they read them. More than likely pick at random.

Congrats... :) Well done!
Poetry comes from your heart. And I love to read what is important and special to all who post. Poetry comes in many forms.. I love writing and rhyming. Some people prefer to express themselves in other ways.
My rhyming is personal. And I always read it aloud. (It scans better that way. )

Yes, some of the poems submitted were directly off the internet and not original, though I don't think any of the ones that I recognized from the internet won. However yes....some weren't even poems at all :eh: , which is discouraging for those of us that did take the time to write one, but this isn't a poetry site. ;) I think you hit the nail on the head though, that they pick at random and never actually read them. Oh well. I think I'm done with contests on here. lol Do the old timers (08, 09) ever win? :?: Congrats to those that won. :trophy:
