I too am old and mobile phones, internet ect.. were not a thing for me in my childhood
NOT even taught in school either

We had to make our own entertainment which was mostly outside
We played conkers in the autumn. Apparently it's banned in schools now as it's classed as a dangerous sport
Prior to playing conkers we had to climb the trees to shake the branches to make them fall

Another banned item are "clackers" from the late 60' to mid 70's
Image
The balls on the end of thick string were solid like rocks
Oh! if they missed and spun round I don't know I didn't break my wrist :haha:

Another game we regularly played on the estate I lived was tracking.
putting arrows on the floor with chalk and putting dummy arrows pointing the wrong direction :haha:

I used to have to walk a mile at least just to phone one of my better off friends
More often than not more than a mile as the telephone boxes stunk or were broke :haha:

I chose Hide & Seek

A conker is the English (Lancashire) word for Horse Chestnuts as they're known in the USA

A description of how a game is played
The game has 2 players, each with their own carefully selected conker which has been drilled to create a hole and threaded onto a piece of string.

A basic idea of the game is to strike the opponent’s conker and try to break it – your conker is then the victor.

To win the game it is important to have the hardest conker! Cheating can be rife – with conkers baked, steeped in vinegar or painted with nail varnish to harden the fruit – but this is frowned upon. :haha: :haha:

Freeze Tag!! I forgot about that one!!!

Oh my gosh there are games ya'll are talking about that I've not heard of and like Gregs, Freeze Tag, that I've totally forgotten about. :)

We had SO much fun back in the day, I kinda feel sorry for the kids today, they'll just never know what fun and friendship is really like.
