I kind of think with out price guides dictating as an assumed rule, people may start to be more independent and more rational in *some* cases. Obviously you will still see people trying to take advantage, but it may lessen the overall stress stream. Like, I think if both people are open to be fair to one another and think on their own in the sense of charging what you would pay yourself/buying for a price that sounds fair - If it isn't attributed to what "the book" or priceguide is telling you, maybe people would be a bit more fair? I know that wouldnt always be the case, but I can't help but feel as though priceguides manipulate a process that otherwise could be a bit more reasonable, relaxed and rational. Not sure If I make sense, and you're free to disagree, too.

If there was no YR I wouldn't be able to write my articles and I would be on the Yo scarp heap.

I'm not gonna disagree if it is 'free'. Make it 'unfree' and I will.

I use the guide as just that. If I'm wanting something bad enough, I'll pay more than what it's going for on the guide. Though there's been people price things for me for far over the guide and I pass on. Some things just aren't worth triple to me. So I guess as far as buying without a guide, I'd just pay what I feel comfortable paying.

When it comes to selling, I'd probably just watch a couple of pages, see what people are buying and selling for and lean on the AH a little bit. Since I feel the AH is off on their 'average pricing', I'd probably price things a little cheaper if I was selling it in an event.

Every once in a while I like to look at the price guide for things I may want to buy. I'll start with 2009 and just start checking themes. If there wasn't a price guide, I'd probably try to have screenshots of everything.

Same here, I'm pretty much on the same page as you (as usual)

If guide had an item listed for 10m but people are paying 14m that means no one is using the guide just like no one hardly uses one now.

I actually keep a excel sheet of all items I have bought, with picture prices and dates.
This is helping now determine real resale value on items. But the guides are a great help in finding new items and learning about them.

Wow!! If I am having a sale, I use a notebook and go from there but I never learned any excel(and i need to make a few database sheets ) so i would be lost!!

This is awesome. I'd never thought of doing that. Every once in a while I'd try a notebook like this, then forget all about it 2 days later. I guess it just seemed like a hassle and something I'd never remember.

I hate guides and don't go by them.I put it for the price I want not what they say.

I would go by a combination of how high in demand the item is and how hard it is for me to let go of it.
