Gary Mentioned in the update that they are re-doing the buddy list in the update to make it non taggable, and work better. Does that mean we lose our friends? If we do, I have a problem. LOL! Just wondering

Thats when hackers tag you, which means they make you their buddy and you wouldnt see them on your list but you'll be on theres. I had this happened once, this guy kept following me when I logged in and he would dc me. He left though after I threatened him, but I want to know how they can fix that issue. LOL!

I can't speak for them, but I think it means so people who aren't on your list can't follow you.
I ran into this issue just last night when someone came into my house where I was sitting with my daughter and a couple of friends. They said a few vile things and then vanished before I could get a screen shot.

We all checked our lists and the name wasn't any of our friends. (Most of us are very select about who is on our lists)

I think 'that' is the issue he's talking about.

I would think that our buddy list is safe and we wouldn't lose anyone from it since the taggers aren't using BL's anyway.

If you make hackers mad, they will usually tag you and follow you around and disconnect you, etc.

You will not lose your buddy lists. This is mostly a security update. The buddy system is the last major system in the game to get "hacker protection".
