i don't know wether this is a good idea or not, but i think we could all manage a few ads inserted into the game or something to allow bvg to increase their revenue, isn't there money to be made there? i'd be happy to see ads around the game knowing they support bvg financially, does anybody else agree? :D :D :D :D

No Ads plz! Another game started doing this and what a pain it is to wait for the ad to be over before you can continue in game. Its bad enough w/ all the glitches and problems we are having now to add, ads to the list. IMO NOT a good idea! :o

if you are talking about farmville, they do have ads at the beginning, i just dont know i know that it is better without ads but like is it really that much of a pain to watch a 15 sec video or have a little square on the side of your screen telling you to buy something...

or even while the game loads, we have to wait anyway, heck it would prolly be more entertaining than the yellow loading sign

I understand, its just that this game has so many glitches atm that slow the game down and an AD in my opinion would slow it down more. THo I do agree, ads generate income for the company and i would deal with it if they did. No I sure wouldn't quit this game over a 15 sec vid. Yep, was talking about FV, a game that I stopped playing in protest but have lots of neighbors that still send out requests and I try to help them when I can.

This is a far better idea than choosing adverts to generate revenue.

People may say its fine now, but have you guys seen Fish World? The adds on there are absolutely everywhere, icons all over the screens, do you really want that?

And people thought the full screen bar was terrible!

I agree, and it seems to me that this is something BVG is planning to do in the future.

This is an article done recently from local press in Ontario, Canada. Read what I have bolded.

Big Viking Games is flexing its muscles after recapturing the reality game YoWorld.

The London-based video game developer is expecting to grow to more than 100 employees from 60 in the next year, as it welcomes back diehard YoWorld fans and develops a slate of other video games.

To do that, it has been searching the world for qualified staff, hiring people from California as well as Macedonia and China.

Since Big Viking relaunched the game May 15, the number of daily players has grown to 60,000 from 40,000 after internal fixes and purges to restore confidence and rejuvenate the game.

“A lot of people were exploiting the game — hacking and cheating. We had to fix all of that so the people who were disenchanted would come back,” said Big Viking co-founder Greg Thomson, who created the game in 2008.

Two months later, Thomson sold the game to Zynga, a major online social games developer based in San Francisco and the fan base grew to a peak of 3.5 million visits a day.

But the game slowly lost popularity and Zynga planned to shut it down at the end of March.

Loyal fans, who had played the game for years, appealed to Big Viking Games who stepped in and negotiated a deal to get the game back and relaunch it under the name YoWorld.

YoWorld is non-competitive and its main market is women over 30.

Although games like YoWorld are free to play, the developers make money by selling extra virtual items such as clothing and furniture to players who sometimes invest thousand of dollars. Thomson compared it to cable TV.

“You can always get a few channels for free but people are willing to pay a lot for cable,’’ he said. ‘‘You can never get to hold it and if you stop paying, you lose it. Cable TV is a virtual good no different from what we sell.”

Thomson said he doubts YoWorld will ever regain its peak number of users, but it will be a substantial addition to Big Viking and the well-known brand can be exploited into spin-off games and other merchandise.

CEO and co-founder Albert Lai said there’s been so much exposure of the brand “we can regain the old fans and get new ones with a different medium such as mobile devices.”

Lai said the biggest challenge to the company’s expansion is finding the technical talent it needs to develop its games, thus its hiring worldwide hiring search.

Big Viking made the list of Canada’s Top 100 Employers with the perks offered to staff. Employees are provided with free meals — the rec-room style office includes foosball and pinball games, a coffee and juice bar, massage therapy and a “napping” lounge.

The first part was just some other fun information I wanted to share. ;)
