I'll have to try the whole post 3 positive things a day for a few days. I've seen my FB friends doing it and thought I should too. There are just some days, it's hard to find even 3 things. lol

I imagine Auld Granny would smile when you listened to her folk remedies and hung onion socks around your neck!![]()

Really? I consider your remark a personal attack that has nothing to do with this thread. Just letting you know.

It was hard to find the three positives each day!.... I am a realist and I know things dont always have a rosy glow, but sometimes its nice to try and focus on the good happy things instead of going over and over the bad. I went a week without posting negative stuff on my FB and it damn near killed me!!!

I've found that when I focus on problems, there are more problems. When I focus on what is ok, there are less issues. I don't know what the mind trick is that does this or why we are programmed this way, but it works like a mofo. It is the same way in life. I find people who look for the good, usually enjoy their lives way more than those who see all that is wrong. And often times they are facing the exact same challenges.

It really is the way I am at heart. Perspective is the way I tend to look at things and not in any "rosy glasses" kind of way. I have lost more then a few wonderful people in my life, I have seen the depravity, suffering and sadness in the world. Those are the things that are worth getting upset and angry over. Life is much too short for all of us to spend our time stressing and angry over the things that in the end really don't matter all that much.
I am not incapable of getting upset over the smaller things, however, for my own good I refuse to let myself get pulled in that hole. Focus focus on the things that you are grateful and happy about and push out the things that cause you strife! lol All joking aside, I commend you for your efforts. It's not always easy, yet I do believe is is one of the best things you can do for yourself. Much peace <3

I actually dont even think its bad to be pollyanna to a degree, really. Its not like she was blinded that reality wasn't so great in front of her. Its more that (like you do) she actively choose to look at a situation in a manner that made reality tolerable in a bigger picture kind of way thing. Its almost a deliberately empowering thing to do, at times.

My realism will be different than yours. At times it is guided by emotions. It might not align with your definition, but it does not make it an untruth. However, we gravitate toward those with similar outlooks; hence, your preference for those who have a similar 'realism'. All of a sudden, I feel as though I am talking in circles...![]()
In conclusion, it's all good.

Exactly! If someone chooses to think a "pollyanna type personality" is naive in any way, perhaps, they are the very people who have struggled the most in life or endured a little too much reality, and refuse to let life keep them down. It is a choice how we approach things. Since when did being positive become a negative?
